My first time eating a Trifle, was about 5 years ago. A few of my friends and I were in college and rather than going home for Christmas break, we stuck around and celebrated together. Since we opted for a potluck style dinner, a friend of mine from Manchester, England said he would make a dessert his mother made every year.
Queue yummy Trifle! Although it is not an authentic trifle recipe, it is very simple and JUST as delicious!

Yield: 8-10 servings
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 5 minutes
Total time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
1 pre-made sour cream cake/pound cake
1 package instant vanilla pudding
2 cups cold milk
1 8 ounce package of cool whip
1 cup halved strawberries
1 cup blackberries
Preparation:
In a large mixing bowl, cut up the sour cream cake into cubes. I prefer to use either the sour cream cake or pound cake not only for the flavor, but because of how dense the cakes are. The contrast goes perfectly with this light dessert!
After you have the cake cubed, set that bowl to the side and start on your pudding.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the pudding mix and cold milk.
In a large dessert bowl, add a layer of cake, berries, vanilla pudding, and whipped cream. Repeat with another layer of cake, berries, vanilla pudding, and whipped cream. Finish off with whipped cream and place a few whole berries on the top.
Serve immediately or store in the fridge until ready to serve.
